Which tour should I pick?
For most first-time visitors, the free multimedia guide is enough on its own — it's included with every ticket, covers the entire route, and you can stop and replay segments as long as you like.
If you're visiting from London and want a stress-free day, the London Day Tour with a Blue Badge guide is excellent value — coach pickup near Victoria, expert commentary on the way, skip-the-line entry, and a return route that often takes in Runnymede (where the Magna Carta was sealed in 1215) or the village of Eton across the bridge. Most tours run around 8 hours door-to-door.
For something more contemplative, time your visit around a Choral Evensong at St George's Chapel. The choir sings daily except Wednesday, and the late-afternoon service is free to attend (though you may need a separate slot from your castle ticket). The medieval acoustics and the choir of trebles and lay clerks is unforgettable.
